This book gathers together the finest images of the designer and his creations captured by the greatest photographers of the 20th century, including Richard Avedon, David Bailey, Cecil Beaton, William Klein, Annie Leibovitz, Irving Penn and Juergen Teller. They have all played a part in creating the image not only of Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent, but also its brands as the legendary 1971 portrait of Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent by Jeanloup Sieff or Helmut Newton’s picture of a woman wearing a tuxedo.
Photography is as much a mean of discovering and promoting the artist's work as it is a medium for documenting it.
Yves Saint Laurent and Photography was conceived in close collaboration with Musée Yves Saint Laurent in Paris.
