A talented autodidact, Léon Prost strives to catch what goes unseen – his lens is a prism that makes the invisible visible. His eye captures momentary encounters, often unexpected, and constructs a highly spontaneous dialogue in them. Through candid photographs taken during holidays, cheerful moments among friends or intimate scenes, Léon Prost paints the portrait of a young, liberated society with a resolute attitude.
His photographic technique, always using flash and without any retouching, produces a luminous result with saturated colors, occasionally echoing the documentary style of Martin Parr.
As a French reportage photographer and director, Léon Prost discovered new perspectives during stays in Romania, where he cultivated his interest in encounters. With his analog camera, he developed a particular fascination with capturing fleeting moments in a gesture or a movement.
For Saint Laurent Rive Droite, Anthony Vaccarello curates a delicate selection of photographs giving free rein to reverie and insouciance.
