TALKS EPISODE 6:

CLAIRE DENIS

THE PODCAST SERIES

Calendar

Saint Laurent Rive Droite presents Talks, a series of filmed conversations with personalities from cinema, photography, and art, close to Saint Laurent and to Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello. Shot in black and white, guests are interviewed by French journalist Augustin Trapenard in a minimalist setting, while answering intimate questions about their lives and careers.

The sixth episode features French filmmaker Claire Denis and revisits the origins of her latest project, her new film The Fence—co‑produced by Anthony Vaccarello via Saint Laurent Productions.

During the conversation, Claire Denis reflects on memory, power, domination, and the ways in which her work resonates with contemporary tensions. She also discusses her relationship to Africa, her emotional return to Senegal after many years, and how the people, rather than the landscapes, continue to shape her connection to the continent. She speaks about the centrality of bodies, desire, and trust in her cinema, and evokes the constraints, fears, and collective commitment that shape her filmmaking, along with the origins of her sensibility.

Available on YouTube and all major podcast platforms.

The Fence will be released in theaters in France on April 8, 2026.
